The King on His Throne
Revelation 4: 1-11
Take-Home Truth: The King sits on the throne where he rules the universe.
Christ-Connection: Jesus invites us to see the end of the story he has written.
Hook: (Ice-breaker question. Get the group talking!)
- Have you ever met someone of importance? How did you react?
Engage: (Observe the passage and engage with the text)
- What are some of the natural elements (thunder, sea, etc.) observed in the passage? How are they used to illustrate the King’s majesty?
- Revelation 4:8-11 is a picture of worship. What attributes of God from these verses are the elders and creatures worshiping?
Reflect: (Reflect upon the key take-aways from the sermon)
- How does this amazing scene (8-11) challenge or inform your view of worship?
- Richard said “The greatest remedy for pain is to look at the magnificence of God’s power and love. It’s impossible to suffer with hope apart from a big vision of a beautiful God.” Is this hard for you to believe? Why or why not?
Respond: (Apply the truths of God’s Word to your heart, affections, and actions)
- Richard said the purpose of life is worship, mimicking heaven. Explain how and why the purpose of life is to worship the source in all we do, say and think.
- Richard taught that corporate worship is rehearsal for eternity. What area of corporate worship do you most need to grow in?
