1. Does anyone have a testimony to share from this week of how they have observed the “mighty works of God” in their life or surroundings?

Engage:  Look into the Word of God in light of Sunday’s preached sermon.

2. Read 1 Peter as a group and discuss your initial observations of the text.

Reflect: Look deeper at the preached and written Word.

3. How does the text counsel us to humble ourselves “under the mighty hand of God”?

4. In what ways might our understanding of suffering change if we truly embraced the idea that our time of trials is ‘but a little while’ in light of eternity?

5. How does the image of Satan as a ‘roaring lion’ impact your view of spiritual warfare, and what strategies can we employ to stay ‘sober-minded and watchful’?

6. How does understanding temptation as a form of suffering change our approach to battling sin and seeking holiness?

Respond: Look ahead and around to see how you can be obedient and missional.

7. What can you do this week to consistently look to the eternal reward to which Peter pointed his readers?

8. How can we specifically encourage each other this week to “lock our eyes on the reward” during the inevitable struggles of following Christ? (Here’s an opportunity for you to make a commitment to your group to care for one another.)
