Living as an Ambassador
Directed and Defined by the King
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Take-Home Truth: If we are a child of God, we are qualified to be an Ambassador for Christ.
Christ-Connection: We are reconciled to God through Christ. Because of this we are not defined by our past; we are defined by Christ.
Hook: (Ice-breaker question. Get the group talking!)
- How would you define an ambassador? What is their role? What qualities should they possess?
Engage: (Observe the passage and engage with the text)
- As a group, read 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 together aloud. Make observations. Discuss and unpack these verses together.
- What does it mean for us to be reconciled to God?
- How does being a Christian make you different than you were before?
Reflect: (Reflect upon the key take-aways from the sermon)
- Carey’s story gives a clear example of reconciliation. What is your reconciliation story?
- If the ambassadors are defined and directed by the king, how can you be more intentional about being directed by the king?
Respond: (Apply the truths of God’s Word to your heart, affections, and actions)
- Are you preaching the gospel to yourself? How can you be intentional about reminding yourself that you and others are defined only by the king?
- What plans do you have in place to ensure that you are current with God’s directions for your life?
