Recap: Look back for evidence of God’s word reshaping your heart and life. Does anyone have a testimony to share with the group of how you applied last week’s “Respond” section? Engage: Look into the Word of God in light of Sunday’s preached sermon. Read Hebrews 7:1-7 and 18-25 as a group and discuss your initial observations. Reflect: Look deeper at the preached and written Word. How does understanding Jesus as our eternal high priest change the way you approach God in prayer and worship? Have you spent much time thinking about how much you need a high priest? How does knowing that Christ saves you completely to the uttermost affect your confidence in your salvation when you struggle with repeated sin? How does the permanence of Christ’s priesthood provide security and hope that temporary human priests could never offer? What does it mean practically in your daily life that Jesus is always interceding for you at the right hand of the Father? In what areas of your life do you need to more fully trust in Jesus as your guarantor rather than trying to guarantee your own righteousness? Respond: Choose one or two of the following applications of Sunday’s message and commit to it/them this next week. Daily Reminder: Set a daily alarm on your phone labeled “Jesus is interceding for me right now.” When it goes off, pause and thank Him for His priestly work on your behalf. Confession and Confidence: When you sin this week, instead of hiding from God, practice immediately drawing near to Him, remembering that Jesus is already interceding for you and has already paid for that sin. Share the Hope: Identify one person in your life who needs to hear about the “better hope” found in Jesus. Pray for an opportunity to share how Jesus draws us near to God. Study Deeper: Read all of Hebrews 7 this week. Journal about what it means that Jesus is your High Priest and how this changes your daily walk with God.
