Walking and Leaping and Praising God

*NOTICE: The emphasis of our discussion is to see how the Written Word (Bible) and the Spoken Word (Preaching) work together to build up the believer, so when you see WORD in the questions, know it refers to the Scripture and the Sermon.

Recap: Look back for evidence of God’s word reshaping your heart and life.

  1. Does anyone have a testimony to share with the group of how you applied last week’s “Respond” section?

Engage:  Look into the Word of God in light of Sunday’s preached sermon.

  1. Read the passage from Acts 3:1-10 as a group and discuss your initial observations.

Reflect: Look deeper at the preached and written Word.

  1. How can we cultivate the same level of compassion and attentiveness that Peter and John showed towards the lame beggar in our daily lives and interactions?

  1. How does the beggar’s immediate response of praise and worship after being healed challenge our own responses to God’s work in our lives?

  1. How do you balance meeting people’s physical needs with addressing their spiritual needs?

  1. What role does the Bible play in authenticating our message and ministry today, compared to the miraculous signs in the early church?

Respond: Choose one or two of the following applications of Sunday’s message and commit to it/them this next week.

  1. This week, intentionally look for opportunities to show compassion to someone in need, even if it interrupts your plans.

  2. Reflect on how God has healed or restored you. Write a prayer of thanksgiving and share it with the group next week.

  3. Commit to memorizing a Bible verse that can help authenticate your faith message to others.

  4. As a group, brainstorm ways you can use your collective resources to meet a need in your community.

  5. Practice being more observant of the people around you, looking for opportunities to offer help or encouragement.
