“Heaven on Earth”

Revelation 21:1-5

Take-Home Truth: The hope of Heaven is the strongest defense we have against sin and despair.

Christ-Connection: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. The old things have passed away, behold new things have come. 2 Cor 5:17

Recap: (Talk about last week)

  1. How has the discussion of hell and the Book of Life changed how you have lived this past week?

Engage: (Observe the passage and engage with the text)

  1. Read Revelation 21:1 and discuss what John meant by there being “no longer any sea”?

  2. Read Revelation 21:1-5 and discuss the hope that you receive from what God is saying through John.

Reflect: (Reflect upon the key take-aways from the sermon)

  1. Richard discussed the Tower of Babel and the encounter with Nicodemus in order to bring out the point of how the answer always comes from God to us, not us to God. Discuss examples in your own life where you have tried to come up with the answers without seeking God. How did that work out? What lessons did you learn from that experience?

  2. This passage discusses how our bodies and the earth will be renewed. Give specific examples in your life right now where God is working to bring renewal.

  3. In Rev 21:5 what is the significance of being told to “write this down because the words are faithful and true.”?

Respond: (Apply the truths of God’s Word to your heart, affections, and actions)

  1. How will you apply the hope that is brought forth in this passage to redeem the trials that you are currently going through?

  2. How can the hope of Revelation 21:1-5 enable you to walk worthy of the Lord? (Col 1:10)
